Royal Isabela Engagement Session

Hidden in the north west of the island of Puerto Rico you will find Royal Isabela, one of the most romantic spots for engagement sessions on the island. Isabela is one of the main beach and surf towns of Puerto Rico featuring one of the most beautiful ocean views.

When we plan this trip we were concerned about the recovery of the area as Isablea is where hurricane Maria made its exit after devastating Puerto Rico. Except for a few houses, the area has recovered beautifully.

We planned this engagement session as a road trip and our first stop along highway 2 was at the Guajataca rest stop. Easy to find because of the enormous Puertorican flag you see before the road starts to go down. There we enjoyed some delicious “frituras” (Puerto Rican soul food) and took advantage of the breathtaking ocean view overlooking the Guajataca tunnel. For me, this is one of the most memorable ocean views on the island.

 

 

The tunnel of Guajataca, officially in the town of Isabela, is a remnant of the sugar cane era. This railway was used to transport sugar cane from the sugar plantations to the “Centrales” where it would be processed into sugar. After you walk through the tunnel and follow the trail around the beach you will walk into a gorgeous valley surrounded by mountains.

 

As we continued our road trip to our final destination, Royal Isabela, it began to rain. This helped to set the romantic and intimate mood we were after for the shoot.

Royal Isabela is one of the most gorgeous intimate oceanfront resort on Puerto Rico’s spectacular northwest coast. It is composed of small luxurious private villas where you can have the perfect romantic escapes. As a plus, the food is amazing!

At the Royal Isabela Villa our couple, Caribel and Kelvin had a very personal, intimate and romantic evening. First, the enjoyed a delicious dinner together. Then, they wrote a love letter to each other that they read to each other. This created the perfect mood and context for some very authentic and intimate moments.
