When we met Lienai and Rafael we knew they were perfect for a unique and romantic engagement session inspired in “The Notebook”. This, novel written by Nicholas Sparks, is a tender romantic story about the enduring power of love.
It all start with that first meeting. We get to know each other and explore the things that make each couple unique. What things they love as individual and what defines them as a couple. Then, a concept is born. We then go on to develop that initial concept to transform it one of their own. We do plenty of research, scout possible locations, check out props, and, yes, we watch the movie several times looking for iconic moments and ideas.
For Leinai and Rafael session we travelled to “La Ciudad Señorial de Ponce”, a beautiful Victorian city, south from San Juan. And from there to a nearby beach in the Boquerón area. The idea is not to copy the book but to get inspired by the book and define the story to reflect Leinai & Rafael own love story. Because as good as a book can be, nothing is like the real story.
Here are some of our favorite shots.
“You are, and always have been, my dream.” – The Notebook
As part of our research we read about what inspired Nicholas Sparks to write The Notebook. His wife gran-parents were very close to his wife and they weren’t able to attend their wedding because their poor health. He tells of how the day after the wedding they drove down to their home and spent sometime listening to them and how they met. Then, Nicholas Spakrs adds: “But though their story was wonderful, what I most remember from that day is the way they were treating each other. The way his eyes shined when he looked at her, the way he held her hand, the way he got her tea and took care of her. I remember watching them together and thinking to myself that after sixty years of marriage, these two people were treating each other exactly the same as my wife and I were treating each other after twelve hours. What a wonderful gift they’d given us, I thought, to show us on our first day of marriage that true love can last forever.” – Nicholas Sparks on the inspiration for The Notebook.
“I want all of you, forever, you and me, everyday.” – The Notebook
